The Newbury and District Amateur Radio Society (NADARS) has been in existence for over 50 years.
The Call Sign of the  Society is G5XV.

We hold meetings on the fourth Wednesday of the month,  meetings will be held at 19:30 at:

At these meetings there is usually a lecture which is relating to radio.

We hold many other social and radio related events. These include bi monthly courses to enable members of the public to become radio amateurs. We hold two day "Foundation Licence" courses which train a person how to operate an amateur radio station safely. After the course we hold a basic examination. To date we have a 98% success rate with this course.

We also hold an annual Car Boot Sale / Radio Rally in June at the Newbury showground where many Radio and Computing bargains may be found. This attracts visitors from all over the country.

FOUNDATION AND INTERMEDIATE COURSES.

A Licence is required to operate an Amateur Radio Transmitting station. (Click above link for details of courses)

To help you enter this fascinating hobby, we run a programme of weekend Foundation and Intermediate Amateur Radio courses and Exams. These are the first and second stages in the new suite of three Examinations designed to give access to the Amateur Radio Bands.
We also host examinations only for the Advanced Licence, the Third and Final Examination.

To date, approximately 170 candidates have attended our courses held at Newtown Village Hall. Our success rate is impressive and many of the newly licensed Radio Amateurs had no prior knowledge of radio and electronics before embarking on our courses.
