The Newbury and District Amateur Radio Society
(NADARS) has been in existence for over 50 years. The Call Sign of
the Society is G5XV. We meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month at
19:30 at The Travellers Friend pub, Crookham Common, Thatcham, RG19 8EA
(Map). There is usually an
informal lecture relating to radio at the meeting
We hold many other social and radio related events.
These include
courses to enable members of
the public to become radio amateurs. We hold two day 'Foundation
Licence' courses which train a person how to operate an amateur radio
station safely. After the course we hold a basic examination. To date we
have a 98% success rate with this course
We also hold The
Newbury Radio Rally in June at the Newbury Showground, where many
radio and computing bargains may be found, as well as club and society
stands, and live demonstration stations. This attracts visitors from all
over the country. For further information contact Phill, G6EES.
Interested in
Contesting?
NADARS enters many contests each year including IOTA,
NFD and VHF FD.
We are always pleased to hear from newcomers.
